Stephanie Rinelli, a rising senior at Sherwood High School, has been making waves in the Olney community with her very own baking business, “Sweetz by Steph.” This past week, she reached an exciting milestone when her delicious chocolate chip cookies began to be offered at Lone Oak Brewery in Olney.

Back in May 2024, we announced that Classic Bakery would be opening a new location at 18195 Village Center Dr. in Olney– its third overall, joining Gaithersburg and Tyson’s Corner. According to their social media post on Wednesday, the new bakery will open its doors on Friday, June 27th.
Earlier this year, the popular Mackie’s Barbecue announced the closure of its Clarksburg, Frederick, and Olney locations, effective January 10th, to concentrate on expanding its catering and online delivery services through its Gaithersburg location. Now, approximately six months later, owner Cam Makki has revealed plans for Mackie’s to make a comeback in Olney with a seasonal food truck.
Firefighters returned Friday morning to extinguish hotspots after a fire rekindled at historic Harewood Farm in Sandy Spring, following a destructive blaze that was initially contained Wednesday night. The Johnson family, current owners of Harewood Farm, have released a statement on the loss of their home:
