Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings, a Michelin-recommended Shanghainese restaurant with roots in New York, has opened at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. The restaurant is currently in its soft opening phase and will operate daily from 12 pm to 8 pm. A ‘first look’ video is available below.

One of the most infamous episodes of Bar Rescue took Jon Taffer to Silver Spring, MD, where he confronted the struggling Piratz Tavern, located at 8402 Georgia Avenue. The pirate-themed bar sat in a prime downtown spot surrounded by office buildings, but its gimmick-heavy atmosphere, inconsistent service, and unprofessional staff alienated the very customers who might have kept it afloat. This year, Spirit announced it will expand its Spirit Christmas concept from 10 to 30 stores nationwide. One of the new locations will open this November at the former DSW Shoes site at 3009 Waldorf Market Place in Waldorf, MD. The store is currently operating as a Spirit Halloween. (more…)
