California Tortilla will close its Gaithersburg location at 12211 Darnestown Road on November 2, a store representative confirmed today. The fast-casual Mexican restaurant, located in the Quince Orchard Marketplace shopping center, across from Quince Orchard High School, has been a local favorite for years but will soon serve its final burritos, bowls, and tacos.

The Shoppers Food in Germantown has stopped selling donuts as the grocery chain prepares to close multiple Maryland locations in the coming weeks. The Germantown store, located at 18066 Mateny Road, is one of four Shoppers locations set to close permanently by November 8, along with stores in College Park, Laurel, and Capitol Heights.

As autumn settles across the region, the Montgomery County and Washington, D.C. housing markets are showing signs of seasonal slowdown. According to the latest report from the Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS® (GCAAR), homes in September 2025 took noticeably longer to sell than they did a year earlier, signaling a market that’s stabilizing after several years of intense competition.

Mangino’s first opened more than a decade ago inside the Express Gas Station at 13001 Wisteria Dr. (now a 7-Eleven), where it earned a loyal following for its New York-style pizza. In 2018, the restaurant moved a few doors down into Germantown Plaza, expanding its space and menu to include more traditional Italian entrées.

For decades, The Golden Bull in Gaithersburg (Montgomery County) and Adelphi (Prince George’s County) was one of the region’s best-known steakhouses, serving hearty portions of prime rib and steak in an old-school setting that became a favorite for celebrations and family dinners.
