Since 1962, Jimmie Cone has been a beloved destination for soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt in Damascus, Maryland (26420 Ridge Rd). Today it opens for its 63rd season, as the iconic ice cream shop continues to delight both longtime fans and new visitors alike. Jimmie Cone also boasts an additional location in Mount Airy (1312 S Main St.), expanding its reach to even more ice cream enthusiasts.
Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports and famous for his “One Bite” pizza reviews, visited Frank’s Pizza & Pasta at 6620 Belair Rd in Baltimore earlier this year to sample their offerings. Since his visit, customers have been lining up down the block before the restaurant opens, eager to savor the pizza and cheesesteak that Portnoy rated so highly.
Kareem’s Lebanese Kitchen has signed on to open a new restaurant at Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront. At this time, it’s unclear which space Kareem’s will be taking, but we will update with that information as soon as it becomes available.
On January 2, 2025, Celtic Cup opened its first brick-and-mortar location, a “Coffee Roastery and Tasting Room” at the Argent Spring Building in downtown Silver Spring. The new address is 8455 Colesville Road, Suite 101B, located next to the building lobby entrance. After recently receiving recognition in the trade publication Daily Coffee News by Roast Magazine, Source of the Spring reports that Celtic Cup is planning a Grand Opening celebration soon.
Eater DC recently unveiled its list of the “Best Korean Barbecue Restaurants Around DC,” featuring three establishments from Maryland, including two located in Montgomery County.
Six weeks after a driver crashed through its storefront, reconstruction at Big Greek Cafe (3200 block Bennett Creek Ave, Urbana, Frederick County) is complete, cleaning is underway, and the restaurant will reopen for service on Friday, March 14.
Ledo Pizza has continued to expand its presence in Montgomery County with the opening of a new Corner Shoppe at Giant Food Kingsview Village Center, located at 18331 Leaman Farm Rd. in Germantown. This new location is serviced by Ledo Pizza Germantown, situated nearby at 12619-b Wisteria Dr. in the Germantown Square shopping center.
