After years of anticipation, the Olney Ale House will officially reopen its doors on Tuesday, October 28th. The Montgomery County Council has approved legislation expanding property tax credits for child care businesses, raising the maximum credit from $3,000 to $10,000 and extending eligibility to large family child care homes.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents to a rise in scam calls where individuals impersonate law enforcement in an attempt to steal money. Sheriff Maxwell Uy emphasized that the Sheriff’s Office will never ask for money or financial information over the phone.
Governor Wes Moore announced Maryland’s first state-sponsored registered apprenticeship program for teaching, which will provide aspiring educators with paid classroom experience, mentorship, and reduced costs for earning a degree and license as part of statewide efforts to address the teacher shortage. Metro is proposing changes to Rockville’s Twinbrook Station’s transit facilities to enable joint development, create a transit plaza, and increase ridership. The proposed changes include the removal of the 164-space Park & Ride surface lot and the relocation of the bus loop and Kiss and Ride facilities on the west side of the site to accommodate future development.
