Construction is moving closer to beginning at the long-awaited Weis Markets in Clarksburg Town Center, according to a new update from Elm Street Development. The project, part of the community’s upcoming retail core, has reached several milestones that position it for visible progress in the months ahead.

Value City Furniture’s parent company, American Signature, Inc. (ASI), has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, the company announced this week. As part of the restructuring, the Value City Furniture location at 12055 Rockville Pike, located in the Montrose Crossing Shopping Center, is slated to close, according to USA Today.

A new Toys“R”Us flagship store is expected to open at Arundel Mills mall in Hanover by the end of the month, according to a mall employee who spoke with us on Sunday. While an exact opening date has not yet been announced, the store is described as opening “very soon,” placing Maryland among the first states to receive one of the brand’s new full-scale locations.


Poolesville has long been described by locals as a “Hallmark town,” and stepping inside The Sweet Lemon during the holidays makes it easy to understand why. The small gift boutique, owned by former high school teacher Katie Horan, has become one of the community’s most beloved gathering places, especially during its annual full-store Christmas transformation.

Back in May 2024, we reported that Mui, a modern Japanese-inspired restaurant, would be joining the Pike & Rose lineup in North Bethesda. Earlier this year, the project took a major step forward when the restaurant secured a construction permit valued at $550,000 in February. Now, Mui has its hearing for a new Liquor License (On-Sale Only) for its future home at 967 Rose Avenue.

DICK’S Sporting Goods at 2 Grand Corner in Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront is deep into its planned conversion to DICK’S House of Sport, a next-generation concept designed to offer a fully immersive shopping and athletic experience. We first reported on the project in March, when plans for a major renovation were announced. Completion is now just a couple months away.

Advance Auto Parts is continuing its expansion across Montgomery County, with a new store set to open in the White Oak Town Center at 12345 Columbia Pike, one storefront away from the future Amazon Fresh grocery store. The addition brings another major retailer to the development.
