This past March we let you know that DICK’S Sporting Goods at 2 Grand Corner in Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront is transforming into a DICK’S House of Sport– a concept designed to deliver a completely immersive experience for shoppers. Cinnabon is celebrating its 40th anniversary by offering its Classic Cinnamon Roll for $1.25, the same price as when the bakery first opened in 1985. “Remember that guy who used to paint at Rio?” Many do. If you walked through Rio in Gaithersburg between 2000 and 2016, you likely saw George Petridis working on one of his beautiful paintings, with many of his other works on display in the atrium just outside the movie theater. For more than 15 years, Petridis showcased his art and continually crafted new pieces, often interacting with those who stopped to appreciate his work amid the bustle of the Rio crowd.
