MCPS has shared that a team from Hallie Wells Middle School, under the guidance of science teacher Dustin Deem and with support from the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, has won the Maryland MESA State Championship. This achievement has earned them a place in the upcoming MESA USA National Engineering Design Competition on June 23.

Montgomery County has announced two free fireworks celebrations: Germantown Glory on Friday, July 4 at South Germantown Recreational Park and Mid-County Sparkles on Saturday, July 5 at Albert Einstein High School, both starting at 7 p.m. with live music and fireworks set for 9:15 p.m. In addition to the Montgomery County government events, fireworks will also take place at Gaithersburg’s SummerFest on Saturday, June 28 at Bohrer Park and at Rockville’s Independence Day Celebration on Friday, July 4 at Mattie J.T. Honey Dip Delights, a family-owned food truck business, has become a beloved fixture at the Clarksburg Outlets and various events throughout Montgomery County. On Friday, despite a brewing thunderstorm, dozens braved the elements to savor the truck’s famous mini donuts during the Quince Orchard Knolls neighborhood “Food Truck Friday” event in Gaithersburg (photos below).
