MCFRS

Firefighters battled a large brush fire on the FDA White Oak Campus today. The fire, reported around two hours ago, was located in the area of Cherry Hill Road and FDA Boulevard, within Box Area 1529. Officials estimated that approximately 10 to 12 acres were involved at the height of the incident.

Gaithersburg

Lakeforest Mall’s long-awaited demolition is officially underway, marking a major turning point for one of Montgomery County’s most recognizable retail sites. Demolition of Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg began on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, almost exactly three years after the mall permanently closed its doors on March 31, 2023. Bethesda

Multiple Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) units responded to a reported fire alarm Tuesday afternoon around 4pm in downtown Bethesda, prompting a significant emergency response after conditions on scene led to an upgrade to a high-rise fire.
