Per MCPD: On Wednesday, December 7, Santa Claus will take time out of his busy Christmas schedule to visit The Children’s Inn at NIH during the Montgomery County Police Department’s annual Santa Ride.The department invites residents to stop at any of the scheduled locations to visit with Santa and his motor officer elves, and to drop off donations of holiday gifts for the Children’s Inn.

Fryer’s Roadside first opened in 2021, serving fried chicken, sides, soft-serve ice cream and snowballs to the Montgomery County community. Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collison Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a serious collision involving a bicyclist on Thursday, December 1, 2022, in Rockville. At approximately 8:41 p.m., Rockville City Police, Montgomery County Police and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Rockville Pike and Talbott St. for the report of a collision involving a bicycle and a vehicle.
The preliminary investigation by detectives has determined that for reason still under investigation the bicyclist entered the southbound lanes of Rockville Pike and was struck by a black 2015 Mercedes GLK350 traveling southbound. The driver of the Mercedes remained on scene.
Per WMATA: Metro’s Red Line customers will see more frequent service beginning Monday, December 5, as the transit agency continues to bring more 7000-series trains into service.
Red Line trains will operate every eight minutes during the peak periods of 6 – 9 a.m. and 3 – 7 p.m. to alleviate crowding during the busiest weekday hours. Red Line trains will operate every 10 minutes at all other times, except during scheduled trackwork.
According to MCPD, the adult male victim that was shot early this morning in Silver Spring has been pronounced deceased and the incident is now being investigated as a homicide. Per MCPD: “On Friday, December 2, 2022, at approximately 3:05 a.m., 2nd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 8500 block of 16th St. for the report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. The suspect has not been apprehended. At this time, investigators believe that this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.”
Per MCPD: Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 2nd District Patrol Services and Patrol Investigations Unit have arrested 71-year-old Arthur Earnest Kelly, of Washington, D.C., with a series of pickpocket thefts that occurred between April and September 2022 at several locations in Montgomery County.
The investigation by detectives has revealed that the suspect waited for the elderly victims to get distracted while in grocery stores in order to steal their wallets and use their credit cards to purchase items at other stores. Through the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Arthur Earnest Kelly. Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Kelly, charging him with theft scheme and credit card larceny related charges. On Friday, September 30, 2022, Kelly was arrested in Chevy Chase. Detectives also executed a search warrant of Kelly’s vehicle, where items of evidentiary value were recovered.
The Poolesville High School boys’ cross country team and the Damascus High School cheerleading team won their respective 2A state championship titles. This was the first-ever cheerleading championship title for MCPS.
