Poolesville

The flashing crosswalk signs on Fisher Avenue in Poolesville were brought down during a rain/wind storm last in March. The Town of Poolesville website informs residents that the aluminum poles were sheared at the base and that parts have been ordered to repair the signs and have them up again soon with powder coated steel poles that will be able to withstand heavy winds.

Fire hydrant flushing also continues in the Town of Poolesville this week.


Bethesda

Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd., based in Osaka, Japan, has announced the start of construction on the St. Elmo Project from March 7, 2022. This will be a rental housing development 22 stories above ground and four stories below ground, consisting of a total of 276 units, located in Bethesda, Maryland, the United States of America (hereinafter “the U.S.”).

Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. is taking part in the St. Elmo Project through its U.S. subsidiary, Daiwa House Texas Inc. (hereinafter “Daiwa House Texas”).


MCFRS

A father’s solution to help his blind daughter participate in an Easter Egg hunt is spreading across the United States thanks to the efforts of military and law enforcement members.

David Hyche’s daughter was 4 months old when she lost her vision and has been the motivation behind his research and passion to manufacture “audible” Easter eggs. His work as an ATF agent inspired him to tweak designs until he had eggs equipped with beepers so his daughter and others with vision loss could participate in egg hunts.


Bethesda

A electronic scooter’s lithium ion battery overheated early Tuesday morning, causing a fire in a third story apartment on Bradley Blvd in Bethesda, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue PIO Pete Piringer.

MCFRS units were called to the scene at approximately 4:30am Tuesday morning to fight the blaze and escort residents out of the building.


MoCo Recreation

Montgomery County Recreation (MCR) is hiring part-time seasonal employees to work during the 2022 summer season. Numerous positions are available for aquatics and summer day camp staff. The following teams have openings: aquatics, community recreation facilities, senior services, youth development, sports, therapeutic recreation and more.

There will be two hiring fairs held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 9.
