The Montgomery County Council unanimously passed Bill 13-25 today, aimed at curbing unlicensed commercial house parties by strengthening enforcement tools, increasing fines, and closing legal loopholes. Councilmembers Dawn Luedtke and Andrew Friedson will hold a press conference to discuss the legislation on Thursday, July 17 at 12:30 p.m. at the Council Office Building. (more…)

Jamie has written extensively on this topic and draws from a life-long career in journalism, including his time at the Pentagon on 9/11.

The MoCo Epic is a festival celebrating mountain biking, natural surface trails, and the community that makes this region a great place to ride! 2026 marks the 16th anniversary of the MoCo Epic.
The Montgomery County Council unanimously passed Expedited Bill 10-25, creating a hiring preference for displaced federal workers who reside in the county. The legislation, introduced by Council Vice President Will Jawando and supported by multiple councilmembers, is a response to recent large-scale federal layoffs and aims to retain skilled public servants by offering them employment opportunities within County government. The International Association of Firefighters Local 1664 has announced its early endorsement of Councilmember Andrew Friedson for Montgomery County Executive, marking the first labor endorsement in the 2026 race. The organization cited Friedson’s commitment to public safety, support for first responders, and record of championing emergency services and working families. Earlier this month, Businessman, philanthropist, and former County Executive candidate David Blair also endorsed Andrew Friedson for Montgomery County Executive.
What started as a burgeoning food truck serving up innovative halal fusion cuisine has blossomed into a full-fledged culinary phenomenon. The Flavor Hive, co-founded by social media sensation Shihan Chowdhury (known as “Chilipeppercooks“) and Amgd Gende, has captured the hearts and palates of diners across the DMV area, leading to the highly anticipated announcement of their first permanent brick-and-mortar restaurants earlier this year. Notably, Chowdhury is a local success story, having graduated from Seneca Valley High School in Germantown.
