Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the scene of a crash involving two vehicles on Shady Grove Road, at the I-270 ramp, on Wednesday evening. According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, several patients and being evaluated and some lanes are blocked.

Kapow Buddy, a Thai restaurant offering “Bowl Style” Thai cuisine, is coming soon to Montgomery Mall. The restaurant will be taking over the space that was recently home to Butter Me Up at the Old Navy Wing on the lower level of the mall.
On Monday, June 17th, the Montgomery County Board of Education has announced that it selected Dr. Thomas W. Taylor as the next superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). The Board will vote on Dr. Taylor’s appointment at its regularly scheduled June 25 business meeting. 25 years ago this month, in June 1999, the Board of Education named Dr. Jerry Weast as the new MCPS superintendent, taking over for Dr. Paul Vance.
Kura Revolving Sushi continues to work towards opening at 12266 Rockville Pike in Federal Plaza later this year, taking over part of the space that was recently home to Chuy’s and previously home to Ruby Tuesday (full menu below). Torchy’s Tacos will be taking over the other part of the space.
A $475,000 permit has been issued for the interior construction of the upcoming Starbucks at White Oak Town Center (12345 Columbia Pike). Construction should begin soon and stores in the shopping center could begin opening by the end of the summer.

Last December Dr. Glenn Orlin retired after working in Montgomery County for 39 years, the first six with the Department of Transportation followed by 33 with the County Council. For most of his career with the Council he served as its Deputy Staff Director and transportation analyst, acting as the main resource for the Council and its staff on anything and everything related to transportation.
More than 50 student and faculty teams are sending experiments into space as part of NASA’s RockOn and RockSat-C student flight programs. The annual student mission, “RockOn,” is scheduled to launch from Wallops Island, Virginia, on a Terrier-Improved Orion sounding rocket Thursday, June 20, with a launch window that opens at 5:30 a.m. EDT.
