Last month we let you know that Peterson Companies, which owns Rio Lakefront, submitted an application that proposes to add a floating pier for Guapo’s restaurant. The Gaithersburg Planning Commission approved the plan at last night’s meeting.
Hope Grows Child Development Center has opened its third location in the Montgomery County, Maryland region. Founded and owned by Salema Horn, the group signed a lease with Fox Chapel, LLC for 10,803 square feet of space within the 115,000 square foot neighborhood shopping center positioned at 19721 North Frederick Road in Germantown about a year back. It is now open.
Chief Antonio DeVaul from the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of Anthony Gomes, 26, of Silver Spring, Maryland, for unauthorized use of a stolen vehicle. He was arrested after the OnStar application tracked and disabled the vehicle.

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 35 (Montgomery County) issued the following statement in opposition of Bill 2-24, the Freedom to Leave Act, which was introduced by Councilmember Will Jawando on Tuesday. The new bill proposes to “(1) prioritize Fourth Amendment rights and reduce disparities in traffic enforcement by prohibiting consent searches of a motor vehicle or person by a police officer; and (2) improve data analysis for traffic stops by requiring the collection of additional data and annual reporting of traffic stop data. This new bill replaces the STEP Act.”
Yesterday, the Montgomery County Board of Education voted to appoint Dr. Monique Felder as interim superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) at their Board meeting.
