GrillMarx Olney Announces Temporary Closure, Clarksburg Location Follows Suit

Update 1/31: GrillMarx in Clarksburg has now also announced an upcoming temporary closure.

Grillmarx Olney’s temporary closure began on 1/31 and the Clarksburg location will begin theirs after February 3rd.

Both announcements can be seen below.

GrillMarx Olney Announces Temporary Closure, Decision on Clarksburg Location Coming Mid-Week

Earlier this evening GrillMarx announced a temporary closure of their Olney location, starting Sunday, January 31, due to the effect that dining restrictions have had on the restaurant.

We spoke with management tonight and were told that while the tent is definitely going to go, they are still tinkering with the idea of remaining open for carryout a few nights per week.

A decision hasn’t been made yet regarding the Clarksburg location, but we were told that it will likely be made by mid-week.

Management made it clear to us that the restaurant would reopen as soon as any indoor dining is allowed again.

Indoor dining in Montgomery County is currently restricted.

The announcement from the GrillMarx Facebook page can be seen below:

“TEMPORARY CLOSING ANNOUNCEMENT!

To all of our loyal patrons:

We all feel it…. Montgomery County restaurants are
“on an island” in Maryland. We have been holding out hope…probably for longer than we should have… that something will change any day. Unfortunately, it has not.

To no fault of any one of our patrons, people have understandably left our county to dine in nearby neighborhoods that are open indoors. While the health and safety of our guests and staff is paramount, we have been incurring unproportionate costs to keep up with the ever-changing regulations necessary to facilitate outdoor dining. Our sales have dropped to a place where we are unable to stay afloat without continuing to accrue debt that we cannot pay while shut down inside.

We will be taking down our tent Sunday morning, January 31, and all table service will cease at that point. We will continue to offer carryout until Wednesday February 3rd. Starting Thursday, our doors will be closed for business until indoor dining resumes.
All of this is subject to change if any announcement is made that mandates indoor dining to resume in any capacity.

We are so fortunate and grateful to all of you for the business you have brought to our door every day of this pandemic. You are the life blood of our restaurant and we will continue to do everything in our power to stay open and active as a member of our community. We look forward to the day when we can open our doors and welcome you back in (safely of course).

Thank you!”

GrillMarx Steakhouse & Raw Bar – Clarksburg, MD
TEMPORARY Closure Coming Soon.

Thank you to all of our guests who have supported us during this unprecedented time. Your patronage is our livelihood. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your weekly visits and smiles under those masks and for making it a point to get take out from all of us here at GrillMarx.

Unfortunately the current situation is unsustainable. With all the neighboring counties that are able to offer dine in we understand the urge to experience sitting in a restaurant again. As many small businesses are struggling, we have made the decision to TEMPORARILY close our restaurant in Clarksburg, MD.
Wednesday February 3rd, 2021 will be your last day (for now) to GRAB YOUR GRILLMARX!
We have full plans to reopen the moment Montgomery County lets it’s restaurants open to a minimum capacity of 25% for dine in.

We wish you and your families stay healthy and safe.
Stay tuned for a reopening date.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
