Layilah Nasser, a native of Montgomery Village and graduate of Watkins Mill High School was crowned Miss Maryland in July of this year.
Last night, Nasser finished in the Top 8 of the Miss USA pageant that took place at Paradise Cove Theater of River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was broadcast on fyi/streamed live on Hulu.
Nasser, a Watkins Mill High School alumna, was raised in Montgomery Village where she also attended Whetstone Elementary School and Montgomery Village Middle School. She has been a Girl Scouts of America member since the first grade.
The Miss Maryland USA 2021 competition took place in July, right here in Montgomery County, where Layilah competed against 102 other candidates at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Rockville.
Previous Miss Maryland’s from MoCo include Kamie Crawford– a MoCo Native (graduated from Churchill in 2010) that has gone on to become the co-host of the MTV series, Catfish.
