It’s rare to still be connected to your high school 50 years later; more so to come back after nearly 70 years and be able to see your legacy in fruition. On Wednesday, Dec. 3, the first SGA president in WJ history, Bill Hiatt Jr, class of 1958, returned to his alma mater.

Maryland’s six casinos generated $159.8 million in slot machine and table game revenue in December 2025, down 2.6% from December 2024, with $67.9 million contributed to the state, including $49.0 million for the Education Trust Fund.

MoCo Government

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and County Council President Natali Fani-González announced progress on Montgomery County’s Climate Action Plan, reporting that 80 of 84 actions have been initiated and 63 are completed, underway, or integrated into operations, according to the FY2025 Annual Report.

Crime

During the week of December 31, 2025 through January 3, 2026, Montgomery County Police Department task force officers conducted 307 traffic stops, issued hundreds of citations and warnings, and arrested 28 individuals for driving under the influence, in addition to other alcohol-related enforcement actions.
