In August 2024, we reported that a sushi restaurant had signed on to open at Rio Lakefront, though details at the time were limited. We later learned the restaurant would be called Koi Sushi, and now, with construction moving forward, it appears the highly anticipated spot is tracking toward an early 2026 opening.

Event

General admission is $25 per person, which includes chili tastings. Free Admission for kids under 18, Police Officers and their Family is provided by MCPF). All proceeds benefit the Foundation’s mission to strengthen community-police relationships, support officers wellness, and enhance public safety initiatives across Montgomery County.

In addition to delicious chili, attendees can enjoy local craft beer from Lone Oak Brewery, family activities, and opportunities to meet and interact with Montgomery County police officers in a fun, relaxed setting.


Bethesda

Back in November, we reported that a new restaurant named Bob’s Shanghai would be opening in Bethesda, appearing to be an expansion of the popular Rockville restaurant of the same name. Since then, that plan has been clarified, and the restaurant coming to Bethesda will not be affiliated with Bob’s Shanghai in Rockville.

Gaithersburg

Route 355 remains closed in Gaithersburg as crews continue roadway repairs following a major water main break, according to an update from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services on Sunday morning.

MCFRS Public Information Officer Pete Piringer said at 10:01 a.m. Sunday that North Frederick Road (Route 355) is fully closed between Game Preserve Road and High Point Drive, with all lanes blocked. The closure is tied to ongoing roadway repairs after WSSC crews fixed a broken water main in the area.
