Event

Join Kaiser Permanente for Healthy at the Harbor, a free community health and wellness event taking place Saturday, June 6, from 11 am to 4 pm at National Harbor in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Bring your family and friends for free full day of fun, fitness, and preventive care along the waterfront.

Throughout the day, Kaiser Permanente nurses and physicians will offer no-cost health screenings, alongside a health and wellness expo focused on preventive care education. A lively Kids’ Zone will keep children active and entertained with spin-art bikes, face painting, balloon art, games, and more.

Fashion designer Telfar Clemens, a Watkins Mill High School graduate who grew up in Gaithersburg, has teamed up with Timberland for a bold new collaboration that reimagines the brand’s iconic workwear through a fashion-forward lens. The partnership is the latest in a series of high-profile projects for Clemens, whose Telfar brand has become one of the most influential forces in modern fashion.

Crime

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) announced that 18-year-old Joshua Carter has been arrested in Fayetteville, North Carolina, in connection with the September 21 shooting death of 29-year-old Akwalabeng Fontava in North Bethesda, while a second suspect, 25-year-old Justin Michael Greene Collins, remains at large. Bethesda

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) began enhancing bike lanes along MD 190 (River Road) in Bethesda on Wednesday, October 8. The project is taking place between Brookside Drive and Little Falls Parkway and is expected to be completed by the end of October, weather permitting.
