The Montgomery County Council’s joint Health and Human Services and Education and Culture Committee will meet on July 23 to review proposed amendments to child care coordination laws, including eliminating outdated positions and refining the roles and reporting requirements of the County’s Early Care and Education Coordinating Entity.

A 44-year-old Gaithersburg man died following a medical emergency while on a rental pontoon boat in North Carolina’s Currituck Sound.
The Montgomery County Council has approved a zoning measure allowing more residential building types such as duplexes, triplexes, townhouses, and small apartment buildings up to 40 feet tall along designated corridors. Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) 25-02, part of the More Housing NOW initiative led by Councilmembers Andrew Friedson and Natali Fani-González, aims to expand housing options and affordability for working residents. The legislation permits the construction of townhomes, duplexes, triplexes, and small apartment buildings on land currently zoned for single-family homes. (more…)
