More than 160 student journalists and educators representing 25 Montgomery County public schools sent an open letter to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) last Friday seeking answers about a March memorandum that outlines administrative review procedures for student publications.

If you’ve driven through Germantown recently and noticed crowds gathering near the Lancaster County Dutch Market, chances are you’ve seen Garfield Dorsey, the Gaithersburg native attracting customers from across Montgomery County and beyond with his colorful selection of red, orange, and yellow watermelons (see social media post below). Construction is moving rapidly at the former Party City space in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood, where permanent signage has now been installed for Wonder.
Construction may be underway at the Glenwood Shopping Center in Wheaton (12134 Georgia Ave.), but Trippy Tacos and its neighboring businesses are still open for customers. The shopping center is home to Trippy Tacos, Dunkin’, Seafood in the Buff, and Maria’s Hair Salon and continue to operate as renovations move forward.
Montgomery County Police have arrested 58-year-old Melesse Semegne of Silver Spring and charged him in connection with a sexual assault investigation. Detectives with the Special Victims Investigations Division believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
