In a collaborative effort with Monumental Sports and Entertainment, Brooke Grove Elementary School is currently embarking on an exciting project to celebrate the Washington Capitals hockey team’s 50th anniversary. The initiative invited fourth graders to participate in a student-led music video experience, where they would help write a song honoring the team’s historic milestone.
The Cities of Gaithersburg and Rockville are hosting their annual Junior Mayor contests for fourth-grade students, inspired by the statewide “If I Were Mayor…” essay contest. These exciting initiatives allow young residents to learn about local government and share their ideas on improving their communities.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has arrested and charged two men for theft at H&M in downtown Silver Spring after a foot pursuit, as well as two women for a strong-armed robbery on Colesville Road.

Last January we let you know that Chipotle signed on as a tenant at the renovated Burtonsville Crossing shopping center. The restaurant will be opening at 10:45am on Friday, March 14th at 15701 Old Columbia Pike in the Burtonsville Crossing shopping center.
Maryland residents will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another approved form of identification, such as a passport, to board domestic flights or access secure federal facilities starting May 7, 2025. Sherwood High School’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Revival is back for its 53rd show—a tradition that has been going strong since 1971, with 2020 being the only year a live performance wasn’t held due to COVID-19 (a virtual show was produced instead). The event began when Sherwood students were inspired by a concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Since then, students audition for the show and spend months rehearsing with staff members to create a production that draws thousands of attendees each year.
