Clarksburg

This year, Montgomery County Public Schools, Baltimore City Public Schools and Washington County Public Schools joined Frederick County Public Schools as school districts that implemented girls’ flag football during the Fall 2024 season. The first ever state tournament was held yesterday at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore and Clarksburg High School (MCPS) won the first ever State Championship for Flag Football.

On Friday, a 24-year-old Hyattsville man pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in Montgomery County for supplying fentanyl and cocaine that led to the fatal overdose of 17-year-old Aiden Vining; he faces up to 10 years in prison, with sentencing set for February 12, 2025. (more…)

Personal finance website SmartAsset ranked 610 cities across the U.S. based on the one-year change in population, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau estimates. Five-year changes were also examined, as well as changes in the working-age population. Two of the fastest growing cities/areas in the United States were right here in Maryland.

A 20-year-old woman was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the fentanyl-related death of 19-year-old Daniel Pineda-Romero, whom she assisted in obtaining pills prior to his death. (more…)

On Thursday, in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, Judge Julie Stevenson Solt sentenced defendant, Demonte Hewitt, 22, of Washington D.C., to 70 years in prison suspending all but 30 years to serve and five years of supervised probation upon release.
