HouseMouse Books is excited to announce the debut of Escape the Bookshop IV, our brand new limited-run escape room experience.

Escape the Bookshop games are always based on a real crime with connections to the DC region. They are designed and built by HouseMouse Books to be played in our atmospheric bookshop. This latest game was inspired by a true local museum theft and the goal is simple – to find the stolen object before the suspect flees the country!

College Park Day is on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 12:00 to 6:00 pm at the College Park Aviation Museum and Airport!This annual festival has free activities and entertainment for all ages.

This year includes three live music and performance stages! Dance and sing along to an exciting lineup of local bands!


MoCo Government

The nomination deadline for the Montgomery County Commission for Women’s 2025 “Women Making History Award” has been extended to Thursday, December. 12. The awards honor women residents or workers for leadership and community impact, with winners recognized during Women’s History Month and at a reception. Elected officials are excluded, and nominations must be submitted online. (more…)


MCPD

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is urging residents to plan ahead and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or cannabis during the holiday season and has launched a “Holiday Task Force” with sobriety checkpoints and patrols running from November 20 through January 11 to detect impaired drivers. The task force arrested 29 individuals for DUI during the week of November 20-23, with additional DUI arrests made by patrol officers not included in this total.
