MCPD UPDATE: “MCPS has lifted the HOLD status at Bethesda Chevy Chase HS. Police have confirmed that this was a swatting incident. Officers are clearing the scene.”

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has shared that “Bethesda Chevy Chase HS is currently in a HOLD status because of an alleged swatting call. MCPD officers are on scene investigating the validity of the threat.”


Updated to include additional information, including cause of fire and amount in damage.

Construction Nears Completion at Greenbriar Local Park Following May 2024 Fire

Construction at Greenbriar Local Park in Potomac is now nearing completion, roughly a year and a half after a fire caused an estimated $1 million in damage and forced the closure of the park’s large playground. The rebuilt playground structure appears nearly finished, though the walkway leading to it remains fenced off as work continues.


The State of Maryland has dedicated a stretch of River Road (Maryland Route 190) in honor of former Cabin John Park Volunteer Fire Department (CJPVFD) Fire Chief James P. Seavey, Sr., recognizing a lifetime of service that spanned more than four decades and left a lasting impact on firefighters locally and nationwide.

Bullis School standout Quincy Wilson, already the youngest male U.S. Olympian in track and field history, has announced that he’s committing to the University of Maryland. The decision was shared Monday evening on SportsCenterNext, where Wilson confirmed that he will continue his academic and athletic career just a short drive from his Potomac campus.
