Almost all major weather models are now showing a strong signal for significant snow impacting the region this coming weekend. Some model outputs are displaying extreme scenarios, including snowfall totals measured in feet, but forecasters caution that the event is still roughly five days away, leaving plenty of time for the setup to shift.
The DC region is entering a stretch of active winter weather, with forecasters tracking both near-term temperature swings and the potential for snow later this week (likely over the weekend).
A snowy signal is beginning to show up on long-range weather models, and local forecasters are taking notice. NBC4 Meteorologist Doug Kammerer shared an update indicating that European ensemble guidance is showing a meaningful signal for snowfall across the Mid-Atlantic over the next two weeks.
