Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings, a Michelin-recommended Shanghainese restaurant with roots in New York, has opened at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. The restaurant is currently in its soft opening phase and will operate daily from 12 pm to 8 pm. A ‘first look’  video is available below.

One of the most infamous episodes of Bar Rescue took Jon Taffer to Silver Spring, MD, where he confronted the struggling Piratz Tavern, located at 8402 Georgia Avenue. The pirate-themed bar sat in a prime downtown spot surrounded by office buildings, but its gimmick-heavy atmosphere, inconsistent service, and unprofessional staff alienated the very customers who might have kept it afloat. Mayan Monkey, the new concept from the team behind local favorites Taco Bar El Güero, Ixtapalapa, and La Gula Mexicana, opened last year at 227 E. Diamond Avenue in Gaithersburg, located in the former longtime home of Growlers. Since its debut, it’s been quietly building a reputation as one of the area’s must-visit spots for creative Mexican cuisine (video below).
