The Montgomery County Council’s Planning, Housing and Parks Committee will review ZTA 25-07 on September 15, which proposes prohibiting licensed cannabis dispensaries within 100 feet of residentially zoned property and making technical updates to retail use regulations. The District of Columbia State Athletic Association (DCSAA) has announced a new policy that will change how students attend high school football games this season. Effective immediately, all DCPS and DC Public Charter School students must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian in order to attend any regular season high school football game.

The Montgomery County Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating 33-year-old Deondray Darnell Osborne, who is wanted for attempted first-degree murder and related charges after allegedly firing multiple shots at a victim during a domestic violence incident in the 8000 block of 16th Street in Silver Spring in July. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded Thursday to a fatal house fire in the 7000 block of Persimmon Tree Road near Eggert Road in Cabin John.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, about 60 firefighters extinguished a basement fire and located an unconscious adult inside within minutes of arrival. Despite extensive efforts to revive the victim, the individual did not survive.


Family Empowerment Resource Fair

Montgomery College invites you to the annual Family Empowerment Resource Fair on Saturday, September 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rockville Campus. This free, public event connects individuals and families with local organizations offering resources in health, education, financial services, and more.

Enjoy fun activities for all ages, including a balloon artist and face painting, plus a free lunch while supplies last. Registration is encouraged, but not required.
