Burtonsville bid farewell to its 7-Eleven, located at 15585 Old Columbia Pike, this past spring. The building is set to be demolished as part of the plans for Wawa to open its second Montgomery County location on the current site of 7-Eleven and the adjacent Mattress and More Liquidators (15595 Old Columbia Pike). A representative from Mattress and More Liquidators shared with us that the store is expected to close in October.
Governor Wes Moore announced the launch of the Rural Advancement for Maryland Peers (RAMP), a $1.6 million grant program funded through the state’s Opioid Restitution Fund to expand and support peer recovery specialists in rural Maryland communities, providing free training and career advancement opportunities to strengthen substance use recovery services. DC Metro has the most escalators (and elevators) of any transit system in North America with a total of 674. Metro’s longest escalator is at the Wheaton station right here in Montgomery County. The 230 ft. escalator is the longest single span escalator in the entire western hemisphere (video below).

The Washington Commanders have locked up their premier offensive weapon, reaching an agreement on a three-year contract extension with star wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
