11:30am Update: The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has released additional information regarding a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the intersection of Frederick Road and Ridge Road in Germantown.

Local basketball talent Brandon Murray, originally from Germantown, Maryland, has officially signed his first professional contract with Sencur, a basketball club based in Slovenia. Murray attended and played middle school basketball at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Germantown.

Yesterday we reported that the Staples store at 20906 Frederick Road STE A is preparing for its permanent closure. A store manager has confirmed the office supply retailer will officially close its doors for the final time on Thursday, August 29th. However, the storefront won’t be vacant for long. Dollar Tree has secured the necessary permit to begin work on the space.
