Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown joined a multistate coalition in a lawsuit challenging a December 18 declaration by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, arguing it unlawfully seeks to restrict gender-affirming care for minors by threatening to exclude providers from Medicare and Medicaid without following required notice-and-comment procedures.

Metro riders across Montgomery County and the region can expect modified service schedules for Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day, along with free fares during a key window on New Year’s Eve, according to information released by WMATA.

A potential winter storm could impact parts of the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) on Friday, with the greatest risk for wintry precipitation focused north of I-66 and U.S. 50, including portions of Montgomery County, according to the latest model guidance and National Weather Service discussions.

Montgomery County police are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on Friday, December 19,  in Silver Spring, where 69-year-old Theresa “Terri” Winona Nagle was struck by a 2017 Toyota Corolla while crossing the roadway and later died at a hospital. Detectives are also asking for the public’s help in locating Nagle’s next of kin as the investigation continues. (more…)
