The Montgomery County Council approved a $7.75 million special appropriation to support residents, nonprofits, and businesses affected by the recent federal government shutdown and federal policies.
Nicole Murray-Lewis, a longtime Montgomery County Public Schools educator, has been elected to serve as the teacher member on the Maryland State Board of Education. Murray-Lewis, who currently teaches social studies at James H. Blake High School, received 39.9 percent of the 3,624 votes cast in the statewide election held November 3-17.
