Originally launched in a gas station, the business took over a sandwich deli and beer and wine store and transformed it into a beloved Mexican food destination. Now, over two decades later, this popular restaurant is relocating, albeit just a short distance away.

Crime

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has released additional information about a fatal shooting in the 700 block of University Boulevard East in Silver Spring on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, that left 17-year-old Jaril Verde Murillo dead. Detectives from the Major Crimes Division, Homicide Section, are leading the investigation. (more…)


Education

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has installed vape detection systems in all high school student bathrooms. According to MCPS, “The sensors provide school administrators with an important tool to address the issue of vape device use in schools and to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for students, staff and visitors. These sensors detect vape emissions, including those from nicotine and THC (the active ingredient in marijuana).”
