Update: The restaurant has reached out to let us know an internet installation delay is forcing them to postpone the soft opening until August 5th.
Dolan Uyghur Cuisine, a highly anticipated addition to the Montgomery County dining scene since we shared the news a few weeks back, is set to hold its soft opening on Tuesday, August 5th. The restaurant, which specializes in authentic Uyghur dishes from Central Asia, will be located at 20-A Maryland Ave in Rockville, within The Square at Rockville, in the space formerly occupied by Kung Fu Kitchen and Peter Chang Rockville.

The Montgomery County Education Association (MCEA) has voiced profound concern over disruptions to educator pay, stemming from issues with Montgomery County Public Schools’ (MCPS) new payment platform, MCPS Hub+. The union has filed a class action grievance against the school system in response to ongoing problems, the latest of which has left some employees without timely compensation. Moderately MoCo was first to report on the delayed payments earlier this month.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has shared that three men have been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted carjacking that took place during an online sale arranged through Facebook Marketplace.
The Montgomery County Council held a hearing on Monday, July 28, to review Expedited Bill 19-25, which proposed a seasonal exemption allowing landscape professionals to use gas-powered leaf blowers from October 1 to December 31, weekdays between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., with the exemption set to expire three years after enactment. King Arthur Baking Company at the Shops at Wildwood, located at 10207 Old Georgetown Rd has announced it will hold its grand opening on Saturday, August 2. This space, formerly home to Indigo Octopus until June 28th, will mark King Arthur Baking’s first location in Maryland. Indigo Octopus is relocating to Bethesda Row.
