The Maryland-National Capital Park Police Montgomery County Division have issued a statement after the Montgomery County Police Department announced that human remains were discovered in Rock Creek Regional Park on March 1, 2025. While the exact location of the remains is not being disclosed to protect the investigation, authorities assure the public that there is no immediate safety threat and encourage park visitors to continue their activities as usual. Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced that a federal judge issued a temporary restraining order requiring 18 federal agencies to halt illegal mass layoffs of probationary employees and reinstate those fired by 1:00 p.m. on March 17, 2025. This ruling follows a lawsuit by Brown and a coalition of 20 attorneys general, challenging the Trump administration’s failure to provide the legally required 60-day notice before terminating thousands of federal employees, causing harm to Maryland’s economy and workforce.

On Thursday, U.S. District Judge James K. Bredar sentenced Daniel Valentin-Morales, 35, of Frederick, Maryland, to 13 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release for one count of coercion and enticement. The Montgomery County Police Department’s Drone as First Responder program assisted in locating a missing 5-year-old and helped apprehend six suspects during three separate incidents on March 13, 2025. The drone, known as RAVEN, provided officers with real-time aerial support, leading to quick arrests in two theft cases and the safe recovery of the missing child.
