Nearly ten years ago, on May 19, 2015, the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) announced a significant change to the in-vehicle skills test for obtaining a Class C non-commercial driver’s license, which is the most common type of driver’s license in the state. The MVA removed parallel parking from the list of required test elements, a decision that has been in effect statewide for nearly a decade.

On Wednesday, March 26, Jersey Mike’s Subs will donate 100% of its sales—expected to exceed $25 million—to over 200 local charities as part of its 15th Annual Day of Giving. This event, the culmination of the Month of Giving campaign, has helped Jersey Mike’s raise more than $113 million for charities since 2011. Jersey Mike’s has nine locations in Montgomery County. Announcement

On August 22, the New Neighbor Interfaith Alliance (NNIA) will host the 2026 Set Them Up for Success Volleyball Tournament and Family Fun Day from 9 am-4 pm at the Interdenominational Church of God in Gaithersburg, gathering volleyball teams, faith community members, and the public to raise funds to help recent refugees in Montgomery County attain independence.

An interfaith non-profit alliance of 37 faith communities and civic groups, NNIA raises funds to help resettled refugees with rental assistance, deferred medical care, English language skills and job placement. They also hope to expand their volunteer numbers to help more beneficiaries with job assistance, reliable transportation, and mentoring.

Keanu Carver has made a significant impact on WWE’s Evolve series. Born Kevin Isaiah Robertson, he hails from Montgomery County, having been born in Silver Spring and raised in Takoma Park. A graduate of Montgomery Blair High School, Carver played college football as a defensive tackle for the Temple Owls from 2019 to 2021.
