With the Consumer Price Index for clothing increasing rapidly over the past few years, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on the States Where People Spend the Most & Least on Clothes to shed light on where Americans are having the most trouble affording apparel. Per the report, Marylanders spent the fourth lowest % of their income on clothing.

Gaithersburg

The Gaithersburg Mayor and City Council will hold a public hearing to consider proposed permit program parking regulations, including the City’s residential and commercial permit parking programs. City residents, businesses, and stakeholders are invited to provide input on the proposed changes, which aim to improve parking availability, accessibility, and overall traffic management. The public hearing will take place during the regular Mayor and City Council meeting on April 7, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at 16 S. Summit Ave.

Beyond MoCo

After more than 90 years of service in Ocean City, MD, Alaska Stand on 9th Street announced last month that it will be closing its doors. In a message to the community, the owners expressed their gratitude for the cherished memories created at the 9th Street Boardwalk location and confirmed that Thrasher’s Fries will take over the space. Crime

Detectives from the Gaithersburg Police Department – Investigative Section have arrested 32-year-old Louis Jeffery Hanley of Olney, MD. He faces charges of first-degree assault, firearm use in a violent crime, and reckless endangerment stemming from an incident that took place last December in Gaithersburg’s Downtown Crown neighborhood.

Last April we let you know that local restaurant group Moby Dick House of Kabob signed on to open a new restaurant in Potomac’s Cabin John Village (11325 Seven locks Road Suite 180, Potomac MD 20854). The new location is adjacent to Colony Grill on the back side of the shopping center and officially opens on Wednesday, March 26th.

Clarksburg

The Maryland office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) issued a news release stating that it welcomed Montgomery County Public Schools’ (MCPS) response to a complaint regarding the alleged mistreatment of an 8-year-old Muslim student at Cabin Branch Elementary School in Clarksburg, which included removing the teacher from the classroom.
