Montgomery County is now accepting applications to fill vacancies on the Advisory Commission on Policing. Established in 2019 by the County Council, the Commission was created to address the ongoing public dialogue surrounding policing practices and to enhance community involvement in public safety matters. In addition to delicious chili, attendees can enjoy local craft beer from Lone Oak Brewery, family activities, and opportunities to meet and interact with Montgomery County police officers in a fun, relaxed setting.
Montgomery Parks urges patrons to use caution when recreating on or near Lake Needwood and Lake Frank located within Rock Creek Regional Park due to potential risks associated with high levels of blue-green algae (cyanobacteria). Water samples from both lakes are currently being evaluated by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) to determine if levels are harmful. Visual indicators including discolored water and algal mats have been observed in portions of both lakes. Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) can produce dangerous levels of toxic microcystin.

Local resident Ron Diehl, who runs the @ghs_sports_snaps account on instagram, highlighting athletics for Gaithersburg High School, wanted to give the kids something cool they can enjoy over the summer– so he used the Team Builder feature in the new NCAA 25 video game to create local high school (and college) teams that are downloadable in the game.
