BGR, which stands for “Burgers Grilled Right,” has closed its Germantown location at 20940-B Frederick Rd in the Neelsville Village Center. The location has been removed from the BGR website and is listed as permanently closed on Google. The last remaining BGR in Maryland is at  6250 Columbia Crossing Circle, Suite D in Columbia.

Announcement

On August 22, the New Neighbor Interfaith Alliance (NNIA) will host the 2026 Set Them Up for Success Volleyball Tournament and Family Fun Day from 9 am-4 pm at the Interdenominational Church of God in Gaithersburg, gathering volleyball teams, faith community members, and the public to raise funds to help recent refugees in Montgomery County attain independence.

An interfaith non-profit alliance of 37 faith communities and civic groups, NNIA raises funds to help resettled refugees with rental assistance, deferred medical care, English language skills and job placement. They also hope to expand their volunteer numbers to help more beneficiaries with job assistance, reliable transportation, and mentoring.

College Park Day is on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 12:00 to 6:00 pm at the College Park Aviation Museum and Airport!This annual festival has free activities and entertainment for all ages.

Law

On Tuesday, Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown joined a coalition of 22 attorneys general in filing a lawsuit to block a new Office of Management and Budget (OMB) policy that pauses federal assistance funding to states, arguing it could disrupt essential services such as healthcare, education, and disaster relief. The lawsuit claims the policy violates the Constitution and the Administrative Procedure Act by halting congressionally approved spending without legal authority. (more…)

On Tuesday, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a large house in the 5400blk of Griffith Rd, near Damascus Rd. in Laytonsville, a non-hydrant area, where crews encountered heavy fire conditions upon arrival. (more…)
