Newly announced, the festival will open on Friday evening, September 11, with a special tribute honoring the 25th anniversary of 9/11. All three bands performing that evening include veterans and active-duty military members.

After three consecutive days of MCPS cancelling school, we have received reports throughout the day of schools with unplowed parking lots and snow/ice covered sidewalks.
A man was arrested early yesterday at Lindsay Ford in downtown Wheaton after officers responded to an alarm and found him inside the dealership with stolen keys and property linked to a vehicle that wasn’t his. He was charged with burglary, destruction of property, and his outstanding arrest warrant was also addressed. (more…)

Escape the Bookshop games are always based on a real crime with connections to the DC region. They are designed and built by HouseMouse Books to be played in our atmospheric bookshop. This latest game was inspired by a true local museum theft and the goal is simple – to find the stolen object before the suspect flees the country!

Montgomery County has extended its Cold Emergency Alert until Friday, January 10, at 1 p.m., urging residents to prepare for dangerously low wind chills below 20°F, take precautions against frostbite and hypothermia, seek warm shelter at County facilities or shopping centers, and report concerns about homeless individuals or animals left in unsafe conditions. Washington Spirit breakout star Makenna Morris has been called up to the U.S. Women’s National Team’s 2025 Futures Camp, U.S. Soccer announced today. Morris was born and raised in Germantown, MD and grew up playing for Bethesda Soccer Club.
Griffis Residential last month announced its expansion to the East Coast with the acquisition of Maizon, a 229-unit multifamily property in Bethesda, Maryland, now rebranded as Griffis Edgemoor. Now we know the property was sold for $115,250,000, per BLDUP.
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has identified the following sixteen (16) geographical sites located throughout the county for emergency meal service on January 8, 2025. Grab and Go meal distribution will be available from 12pm-2pm for ages 18 and under. Families may pick up meals and bring them home to enjoy. Heating instructions will be included.
