Victim’s Identities Released as Detectives Investigate Two Separate Fatal Collisions

Per MCPD:
Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating two separate, fatal two-car collisions that occurred on Monday, October 24, 2022. The first collision occurred at approximately 7:17 a.m., in the area of E. Randolph and Laurie Drive.

The initial investigation has revealed that a gray 2009 Mazda 5 minivan was traveling east in the 1600 block of East Randolph Road when it crossed the centerline and struck a white 2015 Toyota Highlander. The driver of the Highlander was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Mazda was transported to an area hospital where they were pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 41-year-old, Edwin Enrique Mejia Dubon, of Riverdale.

The second collision occurred at approximately 9:12 a.m., in the area of Randolph Road and Hammonton Place. The initial investigation has revealed that a white 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling west on Randolph Road at Hammonton Place. For reasons unknown, the Silverado crossed the centerline and struck a gray 2006 Honda CR-V, traveling eastbound on Randolph Road in the eastbound lanes.

The driver of the Honda CR-V was pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent has been identified as 29-year-old, Ambar Aida Rivera Membreno of Silver Spring.

CRU detectives are actively investigating both fatalities.  Anyone with information regarding either collision is asked to contact CRU detectives at (240) 773-6620.
