The Cheesecake Factory at 5335 Wisconsin Avenue NW in Washington DC’s Friendship Heights neighborhood has announced that it will permanently close next month. According to Fox 5’s Allison Papson, the company stated that after extensive review it made the decision to discontinue operations at the Chevy Chase location, with the final day of service set for January 24, 2026.

MCPD UPDATE: “MCPS has lifted the HOLD status at Bethesda Chevy Chase HS. Police have confirmed that this was a swatting incident. Officers are clearing the scene.”

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has shared that “Bethesda Chevy Chase HS is currently in a HOLD status because of an alleged swatting call. MCPD officers are on scene investigating the validity of the threat.”


Chevy Chase Lake, located at 8507 Chevy Chase Lake Terrace in Chevy Chase, MD, will host its fourth annual Jingle Jubilee on Saturday, December 6, 2025, featuring the community’s first Holiday Pop-Up Market with more than 15 local artisans and makers from the DMV region.

Former National Football League (NFL) Commissioner Paul Tagliabue died Friday morning at his home in Chevy Chase, Maryland, his family announced and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. Tagliabue, who was a longtime resident of Montgomery County, was 84 years old.

Little Beast, the neighborhood restaurant and pizzeria located at 5600 Connecticut Ave NW, is stepping up to support local families in need. The restaurant announced on social media that it will offer free large cheese pizzas to families who present a valid SNAP card, adding a simple message: “If they won’t, we will.”
