At approximately 2:30 a.m. on the 11700 block of Veirs Mill Road near Claridge Road in Wheaton-Glenmont, a multi-vehicle incident resulted in injuries and traffic disruption. The collision involved a car that sustained minor damage, with a pedestrian standing nearby who was struck by a passing motorist.
A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8pm today. Per the National Weather Service, “Expect wind gusts greater than 40 mph. Wind gusts of this magnitude will make driving high profile vehicles difficult, and cause loose outdoor objects to be blown around. Secure loose outdoor objects to prevent property damage.” This evening there have been several incidents reported by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS), though not all may be attributed to the wind. On Wednesday night, a fire broke out in the garage of a single-family home at 9400 Holbrook Dr. off Falls Road in Potomac. The incident initially began in a detached garage containing two vehicles and quickly extended to the exterior of a nearby house.
Shortly before 3:30pm on Tuesday on Stewartown Road near Goshen Road in Gaithersburg, a two-vehicle collision prompted an emergency response from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services. According to dispatch details, some occupants were trapped inside one of the vehicles at the scene.
