Sherwood boys basketball coach Tom Sheahin announced his retirement after 34 years in the game. Last season, he helped lead the Warriors to a 25-2 record and an appearance in the Maryland State Championship game.
Earlier this week, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson shared that TCU linebacker Johnny Hodges was invited to the Los Angeles Chargers rookie minicamp. Hodges is a Montgomery County native from Darnestown who graduated from Quince Orchard High School in 2019.
The Walter Johnson High School Athletic Department has announced that Chase Rieder will serve as the new head coach of the boys varsity basketball team.
Below are Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) state champions for baseball (as early as 1974/75) and softball (as early as 1981/1982). The MPSSAA website includes state championship teams from the entire state, which could also include previous years.

The Terrapins wide receiver, a product of Germantown’s Northwest High School, brings a decorated college resume and hometown pride to the Buffalo.
Curtis Pride, a Montgomery County sports icon, has released his new book, “I Felt the Cheers: The Remarkable Silent Life of Curtis Pride.” The book features a Foreword by National Baseball Hall of Fame and Baltimore Orioles legend Cal Ripken, Jr.
