In August we let you know that Taco Bar El Güero, the longtime Gaithersburg favorite known for its gas station origins, is preparing to relocate across the street to Downtown Crown this fall. The family-owned restaurant, which has been serving the community since 2003 and was recently on Yelp’s national list of “10 Don’t-Miss Gas Station Restaurants 2025”, will hold a liquor license hearing on October 2, with plans to complete the move later that month.

Silver Diner, which first opened its doors in Rockville in 1989, has grown into a regional favorite across the DMV. This summer, the restaurant chain introduced a new family-oriented tradition, “Unplug at Silver Diner,”held Tuesday evenings as a way to encourage families and friends to connect over dinner and games without the distraction of screens.

Two Montgomery County eateries have earned a spot on Washingtonian Magazine’s latest “The Hot List: 10 Restaurants Around DC We’re Loving Right Now.” The September roundup highlights standout dining destinations across the DC region, and this time, Rockville and North Bethesda are in the spotlight. They were the only two Maryland restaurants featured in the list.

Silver Spring Sichuan Bistro is set to open at 3830 International Drive in Leisure World Plaza, taking over the former site of Vegetable Garden. The restaurant is expected to open in mid-October, with details about a ribbon-cutting ceremony to be announced. (more…)


Two Maryland pizzerias represented the state on the national stage at Dave Portnoy’s One Bite Pizza Fest, which took place on September 13. Frank’s Pizza and Pasta and TinyBrickOven, both in Baltimore and featured previously in Portnoy’s One Bite reviews, were selected to be part of the highly publicized festival that brought together dozens of the country’s most buzzworthy pizza shops.
