Beyond MoCo

One of the best pizzas i’ve ever had, and my top pizza from all of 2025, is located in Frederick, MD. The crazy part is, this pizza isn’t coming out of a traditional storefront. What’s even crazier, is it’s so exclusive, there are only eight pizzas made each week. What started as a passion project has turned into one of the most anticipated weekly drops at Bussin Pizza.

Education

In the mid 1980s, a starting teacher in Montgomery County earned about $19,000 a year. A 15-year veteran with a master’s degree made just over $36,000. Those numbers appeared alongside similar figures from counties across Maryland, forming a routine salary comparison meant to inform readers about current pay and pending contract approvals.

Join Us for StoryBox Comics Fair, a two-day festival celebrating local and independent comics authors!

Day 1 – Saturday, June 27th, 11-5pm @ DwightMess compound (805 Silver Spring Ave): Events are open to the public, admission is FREE. Featuring Special Guest Artists, gallery exhibitions, workshops, artist talks, a modeling session (suggested donation) and exhibitors, you can dig in to indie comics and also tour the compound, which features an extensive comics collection, a rare video collection, Risograph and screenprinting studios.


Bethesda

In August, we shared that Call Your Mother Deli would be returning to Bethesda with a new, permanent downtown location at 4828 St. Elmo Ave. A $475,000 permit has now been issued for construction, signaling that work is set to begin. While an exact opening date has not been announced, an opening later this year is expected.

Restaurants

Construction is set to begin at Montgomery County’s first Barrio Burrito Bar, which will also be Maryland’s second location overall. We first reported on the upcoming restaurant more than a year ago and a Baltimore-area location has since opened.

MCPS

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich addressed the shooting inside Wootton High School that occurred this past Monday, calling the incident “horrible” and extending thoughts to the victim and the Wootton community following a difficult week.
