Update: Officials confirmed that one adult died in the fire. Two adults have been displaced, and damages are estimated at less than $100,000, including $50,000 to the structure and $20,000 to contents. Investigators are still working to determine the fire’s origin and cause, as well as conducting an ongoing death investigation. Notably, there was no working smoke alarm in the home.

Beyond MoCo

Berries & Bowls, the popular superfood café known for its açai bowls, smoothies, and juices, is set to open a new location in College Park. The shop will be located at 4350 Knox Road, on the ground floor of the Union on Knox apartment building. An official opening date has not yet been announced.

MCPS

12:55pm update: 2D officers have two students in custody following the report of a gun on campus. A BB gun was recovered during the investigation. @MCPS has lifted the lockdown at Northwood HS. A news release will be distributed with more detailed information.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has released an “incident alert” that involves MCPS placing Northwood High School, currently located on Old Georgetown Rd. in North Bethesda, on lockdown while police investigate a report of a gun. This incident is separate from the earlier call, which was cleared by police and unfounded.

The Tillery, located inside the Marriott Hotel at Metro Centre Owings Mills, has introduced the B.A.L.T.I.M.O.R.E. sandwich, created by Executive Chef Matthew Zafrir. The sandwich features bacon, avocado mousse, lime, tomato, mayo, onion, and a runny egg on brioche. (more…)
