On August 11, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., deputies of the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff, assigned to the 4H Fair in Centreville, MD, were alerted to an attempted kidnapping. The Sheriff’s Office and QAC Fair Board emergency response plan was immediately activated, and deputies quickly saturated the area.
MCPD is investigating a shooting that occurred Monday night in Fairland in which a teenage male was shot in the thigh while walking on a footpath, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

Back in January we let you know that bartaco signed on to open its first Maryland location at 11886 Grand Park Ave. in North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose. After little more than half a year later, there is some movement as construction prepares to begin and a hearing for the restaurant’s liquor license is scheduled for later in the month.

On October 2, 2024, Marty Fischer lost his father, Pat Fischer, to cancer. Pat was a legend– a former NFL player who played 17 years in the league, with 10 of those years right here with the Washington Redskins. He was known as a relentless and fearless cornerback, a member of the team’s Ring of Fame, and a hero to many. But to Marty, he was just “Dad.” Now, Marty is turning his grief into action, stepping into the boxing ring to fight for his father’s memory and for everyone affected by cancer.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland (USAO-MD) announced that it obtained a judgment of $1,407,493.23 against Dr. Richard Akoto, M.D., a family medical doctor, and his practice, Richard O. Akoto, M.D. PC, located in Takoma Park, Maryland. The U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland found that Akoto submitted, or caused the submission of, false claims to the Medicare program in connection with his use of auricular stimulation (P-Stim) devices.

And while most meteorologists would wait until fall to release a seasonal outlook, Gerard Jebaily, the chief meteorologist at FOX 45 in Baltimore, Maryland, has decided to get a head start. In a playful poke at the popular long-range forecasts that often come out months ahead of time, Jebaily released a “very, very early sneak peek” at the upcoming winter.

Strathmore introduces six dynamic young musicians as its Artists in Residence (AIR) Class of 2026—a genre-defying cohort selected for their creativity, skill, and artistic vision. The artists will make their debut at Fresh AIR on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 8 p.m. at The Music Center.
