A WSSC crew has been assigned to repair a water main break in Olney. Once all underground lines have been marked, WSSC Water will begin repairs, which typically take 4-6 hours. During this time you could experience low water pressure, or no water service during repairs. Residents have recently reported discolored water in the area.
The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security will host the free “Ready Montgomery: Emergency Preparedness and Public Safety Fair” on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wheaton Local Park in Silver Spring, offering safety demonstrations, training, and resources for residents as part of National Preparedness Month. Field of Screams Maryland, one of the region’s most established haunted attractions, has announced it will not operate in 2025 as it undergoes a full renovation, with a reopening planned for September 2026. The hiatus will allow for updates to its trail, haunted house, and other features, while continuing its role as a fundraiser for the Olney Boys & Girls Club.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision involving a car and a truck at Layhill Road and Bel Pre Road in Silver Spring on Friday morning.
According to MCFRS spokesperson David Pazos, crews extricated an adult female passenger from the car, who was transported with non-life-threatening injuries. The two other drivers involved declined transport.
