Maryland’s sports wagering market contributed $88.9 million to the state in Fiscal Year 2025, a 47.4% increase over the previous year, with $9.2 million generated in June alone. The state’s share supports the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future education fund, and starting June 1, mobile operators began paying a higher tax rate under new legislation passed during the 2025 General Assembly session. Gaithersburg

In the early hours of Thursday morning, a serious collision occurred on northbound I-270 between exits 10 and 11, just before Route 124. The incident involved two vehicles and resulted in the entrapment of two individuals, according to Pete Piringer, Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS).

Community

Anabelle Jaffe dedicated more than 60 years of her life to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in Maryland. Now, at 103 years old and no longer working with the school system, she enjoys life at The Ring House in Rockville, as noted by community member Lisa Banos, who attended Wheaton High School when Jaffe was a guidance counselor there.
