DC Water has begun rehabilitation and environmental restoration efforts following the January 19 collapse of a section of the Potomac Interceptor that caused a sewer overflow. The collapse released an estimated 243.5 million gallons of wastewater and was described by the University of Maryland as one of the largest sewage spills in U.S. history.

Join Us for StoryBox Comics Fair, a two-day festival celebrating local and independent comics authors!

DMV

The National Weather Service has released some snow totals from trained spotters across the DMV at various times Monday afternoon/evening. Not every community has an available measurement, and the timing of each report can lead to differences in what you’re seeing at home. Your backyard may look a bit different from the official totals, depending on when and where the snow was measured.

DMV

Updated to note that PGCPS has retracted the previously called delay and will make a decision in the morning. 

Snowfall Monday was largely as expected, with up to an inch accumulating mainly on grassy areas. Roads remained mostly just wet, with minimal travel impact through the afternoon and evening. The focus now shifts to freezing rain overnight as temperatures hover near freezing.


MoCoSnow

An Extreme Cold Alert has been issued for Montgomery County from Monday, March 2 at 3pm through Tuesday, March 3 at 9am, as wind chill values are expected to fall below 32 degrees. Officials are urging residents to dress in layers, limit time outdoors when possible, and take precautions if they must spend extended periods outside.

DC Sports

The Washington Commanders are rumored to have interest in NFL free agent pass rusher Arnold Ebiketie, according to Commanders and NFL reporter Ben Standig. If the move comes together, it would bring a Montgomery County native back home.
